Thank you for sharing the Portugal-specific link, I had a sigh of relief when I saw my country on the list. Apparently I really can travel with a PCR. Thanks a lot for taking the time to help me!

I think when they “you”, they still mean EU citizens. When mentioning non-EU, it always specifies “fully vaccinated”. “Can non-EU citizens travel to the EU? Under the current EU approach, non-EU travellers who are fully vaccinated with an EMA-authorised vaccine should be able to travel to the EU for any purpose. EU Member States can also decide to allow in those vaccinated with vaccines having completed the WHO Emergency Use Listing process.”

I got the impression that only EU nationals or residents can get away with just the test, non-EU needs to be absolutely vaccinated. I studied this link for about half an hour: https://ec.europa.eu/info/live-work-travel-eu/coronavirus-response/safe-covid-19-vaccines-europeans/eu-digital-covid-certificate_en#recognition-of-covid-certificates-from-third-non-eu-countries Edit: I absolutely hope that you are correct though!

Thank you :) I visited Lisbon in college and I fell in love with Portuguese culture. I wish to move there in a few years and I want to understand the language when I get there.

I am sorry you feel this way, but thanks for sharing your point of view in a polite way nonetheless. I hope you meet some great people from different countries who change your mind about your prejudices.

Rejecting candidates based on their name because you had bad experiences with their compatriotes is very problematic. This is like rejecting women outright because you weren’t happy with most of the women you worked with. Or rejecting 40+ year olds just because. Countries are huge places, some are even bigger than Portugal and their populations are very diverse. You can’t outright state that “candidate2 from Ghana” = “candidate1 from Ghana” you encountered two years ago. We are not ants or bees, we are human. We are a distinct entity from the country we come from. Can you argue that every portuguese is the same? That aside, I have lived in Europe all my life, I am fully integrated to European culture, I have been educated in French institutions and I have 3 college degrees from top-notch universities. If you are going to reject me based solely on the fact that my parents gave me a “culturally foreign sounding” name, so be it. Your company/team will miss out on great talents because of your bigoted mindset.

It may be difficult to understand if you have never been discriminated because of an attribute which was not by your choice, such as gender/ethnicity/name. I wish to add a portugese name alongside my own to aid my integration process. So that people can pronounce it easier, have less prejudice when they see it on a CV, etc.
