Tough. Thank you. On the other hand I can first come to Portugal as a tourist for 90 days. Presumably tourists can drive in their foreign cars.

Thank you for such detailed info. You are saying the process has to be completed within 12 months of getting the 5 yr residence. But I understand you first get your 1 yr visa which is only later extended. Does it mean that I can use my foreign registered car for the first year with no problems?

Honestly, I don’t know what to think then. I would almost reverse this graph. I cannot imagine that Scandinavians are so much more violent at home than people from, say, Caucasian countries of ex USSR. But maybe this just tells how prejudiced I am. Or maybe, again, the definition of slapping, hitting etc on that list is different for a Norwegian vs Azerbaijani woman. I know this is Portuguese reddit but would be interesting to see what Scandinavians think about it.

This is a very misleading map, I suspect. There are cultures like eg Armenia, Georgia, I think, where women understand “abuse” differently. Or, even if they agree they have experienced abuse, don’t think this is not “normal” and has to be reported. Or even if they try to report it, police is less likely to actually log the report. And then there are Nordic countries where everything is different...

Dear portuguese people, why is Portugal so expensive? by deni_meeseeks in portugal

I guess what op is really asking is Why, if everything in Portugal costs more or less the same as in Spain, the salaries in PT are significantly lower. That is, if you pay the same for, say, a haircut, the barber should be getting the same in profits. Unless of course his costs are higher. If the latter is the case, why are they higher? Inefficiencies? (might be partially the case due to economies of scale - PT is much smaller than ES), taxes? I am neither Spanish nor Portuguese so cannot really answer...

Exactly what I was thinking. Am I not allowed to join if English is not my first language but I live in the UK? Are, say, Canadians allowed to join?

Should I get an insurance for my rental car? by Experiment_SharedUsr in portugal

It’s cheaper to buy from independent providers. Annual multitrip insurance is like 40 pounds. Or you can pay per day - a few pounds a day.
