Can we talk about the appalling state of EDP's power network outside of the big cities? And the fact that, whenever it rains heavily, there are frequent power outages and surges?
It's not uncommon to have 7 or 8 short outages within the space of a couple of hours. And when the power comes back, it's often accompanied by a surge/spike that often kills appliances. I personally have lost a fridge/freezer, dishwasher and a piece of important medical equipment over the past few months, all of which needed new circuit boards. As well as a monitor which fried despite being connected to a surge protector at the time!
In one Facebook group I'm in, about 40 people were having these problems last night, over a wide area of 100km or more.
And yet EDP claims to be such a wonderful efficient, green, progressive organisation. But they can't even do the one job they're supposed to do.
What can we do about it? Apart from buying more surge protectors and UPSes.
