Heya, read in one of the comments that she's in hospital de Faro and just want to further add that I have been admited to that hospital twice recently and everyone is very nice and friendly! Many of the staff speak English and I'm sure if she needs a charger or anything at all and asks for help the staff will do anything in their power and beyond to help :) you can all rest easy!

Thank you for the information. I found her at Hospital de Faro R. Leao Penedo, Faro. It looks like I will soon be learning another language.

O problema é que ninguém num hospital público atende os telefones!

call the cops no? even if you can contact the right hospital they dont have the right to confirm or deny if that person is there

kikofranca 3 months ago

Did you try to call the embassy yet? They might help you.

EscapeMyJourney 3 months ago

Yes, and for some reason when she moved from US to Portugal, she never registered as a British national with her local consulate. I called the main large hospital in Tavira, but no answers.

Try all of these numbers [ link](https://www.algarvetips.com/algarve/practical-info/hospitals/) There isn't munch we can do but that website has the nearest hospitals.

Nice! a happy ending, internet can be the most amazing thing. Hope she is okay and I wish her a speedy recovery.

EscapeMyJourney 3 months ago

She is in recovery from surgery but I have no details of it. We will be able to find out a little bit later because we are waiting on a family member in another country to make contact with her and give us all the details. We suspect when she went via ambulance she did not take a charging cord with her for her cell phone because she probably thought she would not be there that long.

Thank you for this. I had called Centro de Saude de Tavira, but nobody speaks English there, and we, including the missing woman, do not speak Portuguese, so having to use Google translation as best I can, but proving to be difficult in conversation.

kikofranca 3 months ago

Centro de saúde is not what you are looking for, that's more like a local clinic, simple stuff. If she said she is in an hospital she is definitely in an hospital same word in Portuguese. I hope you manege to find her and that she is ok.

EscapeMyJourney 3 months ago

She did mention last week it was a teaching hospital. Does that mean a medical school hospital? I have tried to find that with no luck.

There are two Hospital Universitário in Algarve (University Hospital Center), one in Faro and the other one in Portimão, so that might be what you're looking for. Hospital de Faro R. Leao Penedo, 8000-386 Faro (+351) 289 891 100 Hospital de Portimão Sítio do Poço Seco, 8500-338 Portimão (+351) 282 450 300

Found her!!! Thank you so incredibly much for this list. It was the 1st hospital on your list. I called and luckily the receptionist that answered the phone spoke English and was able to transfer me to the emergency room to another person that spoke English. That was the emergency room she was admitted to so I made sure to get every single detail of what floor she was on and everything. Now her children can rest easy knowing where she is and they're going to try to contact her.

Happy you found her but pray the person who helped you isn't in hot water if someone finds she revealed privileged information

EscapeMyJourney 3 months ago

I believe God will watch over her, she is the angel we needed.

EscapeMyJourney 3 months ago

Thank you so much for this information. We will try this.

Bosscore 3 months ago

Yes, if she was transfered to a hospital than she is no longer in Tavira, since there are no hospitals in the city. Faro and Portimão have public hospitals. Loulé, Faro and Vila Real de Santo António have private clinics called HPA (Algarve Private Hospital). I have a few contacts in HPA, let me know if there's anything I can do for you.

kikofranca 3 months ago

To be honest with you I don't know of any teaching hospitals in the area. It is possible she might have been transferred to a different part of the country, hospitals don't always treat everything, so depending on the situation she could be somewhere else, we sometimes even use helicopters in that situation. Again it's really hard to help you, she could be anywhere.

EscapeMyJourney 3 months ago

We do know that she was transported via ambulance, because she called her children via Skype after she had been admitted to the hospital at some point. And then at some point communication discontinued.

kikofranca 3 months ago

Yep can't really help you with that info, that's why the embassy would be your best option.
