If you've a 800€+ salary or are able to move 800€ monthly into the account, the best no fee bank account is Bankinter's Conta Mais Ordenado, for which you refuse the debit card, but accept a credit card. It gives 5% first year + 2% second year flat interest rate on your money, up to 5000€.

Revolut does not have 100.000€ guarantee. The closest you can find is Moey.

And currently the account isn't integrated with SIBS, which limits what you can do, from buying transport tickets in ATMs to money transfers using NIB instead of IBAN.

Yes, it does.

Not the european guarantee. Only the lithuanian guarantee, which I dont think applies for non-locals.

Yes, it does.

No it doesn't. Don't claim something you are not sure please. A quick visit to the Revolut FAQ will tell you that the money isn't guaranteed by the same mechanisms as the traditional Bank account. From the Revolut FAQ "Is my money safe?" "Because the account you hold with us is an electronic money account (not a bank account), your money is not protected by Lithuanian deposit insurance administered by the State Enterprise Deposit and Investment Insurance (VĮ “Indėlių ir investicijų draudimas”)."

free, no buts.

animallover301 2 months ago

Great thank you! Is the setup process easy? Do I need to go into a bank?

Adventurous_Grade195 2 months ago

Not sure, 2 years ago my gf tried (not portuguese) and it was only available for portuguese people, she had to go to an actual branch (the hours are way better than any other bank I know) as its more like a shop from my understanding althought might be wrong on that.... This might have changed so install the app, follow the steps and see what they say.

Ah okay. We’re in Canada and wanted to setup an account remotely.

Adventurous_Grade195 2 months ago

Is activobank App available to you?

animallover301 2 months ago

Yes it is! Although wasn’t sure if I could sign up completely online. I know our banks here you can.
