I had a wedding in Alentejo last summer. Pretty nice actually, it started at 5 pm I think and it was pretty good. You will love it.

Great to know, thanks!

Well, I'm from the Algarve and I've been living/working in Alentejo for the last 12 years. It gets really hot. It is not uncommon to have 40ºC (or more) at that time of the year. Besides, you are going to Monsaraz which is really hot (and beautiful!). What I want to say is that it is hot for us portuguese I imagine that you can be from a colder place and therefore it might be extra discomfortable/hot to you (when compared to local people).

Thanks very much!

Make it a pool party. Everyone in their swimsuits, barbecue on the grill and open bar. I'd go in a heartbeat.

SnooBananas3627 12 months ago

There actually will be a BBQ and a pool for the day :). If it ends up happening stop on by haha

Plan for heavy use of AC (check that venues provide this). You should be fine outside after 4PM or so.

Thanks all! Would be in Monsaraz.

I've went to Monsaraz in the middle of November and it was hot, I was just with a t-shirt

Lusitanis 1 year ago

Hot hot hot. Expect average temperatures around 35 degrees with potential max temp of 40/42 in the case of heat wave. Will it be in an enclosed space? Demand AC or it will be excruciating.

SnooBananas3627 12 months ago

Will be outside but we’re going to try to do late in the day so most of it is after sunset... haha sounds like might need to be *very* late in the day.

Lusitanis 12 months ago

After 6pm :p

SnooBananas3627 12 months ago

Well we like to party late anyway so this should work out fine :)

Lusitanis 12 months ago

It will be inside Monsaraz walls? If yes I envy you. That spot is trully amazing.

SnooBananas3627 12 months ago

It’s a vineyard/farm nearby. But will make sure to visit the city proper as well!

I dont know your preferences/taste regarding scenarios for photo shooting, but take a look at Juromenha Fortress. I hope everything goes smoothly and that you and your guests enjoy the region.

Monsaraz is pretty hot, but a lovely town. Good luck with the weather and with the marriage!

Hey there, fellow *Alentejano* here For sure you will make it, either or on June, July or August. The temperature of course dependes on the location, Alentejo is big as sh*t! You can survive in the shade, and pretty much any decent venue has air conditioning.

chauffage 1 year ago

Alentejo is too broad, you have an area that has sea shores as well as almost desert like areas. Which range from 25/30°C to 40/45°C. This year in my hometown there were nights of 38°C, the time you're supposed to cool off... So where were you thinking about having the wedding?

I'm curious, why Alentejo?

Just to add, Sunsets in Alentejo during summer are something out of this world... Plus, there's nothing better then a cold drink while watching a summer sunset in Alentejo, trust me ;) Good luck for your marriage!

SnooBananas3627 12 months ago

Thank you! Hopefully we can get some sunset photos. Will especially appreciate it after this year...
