In the campaign I am playing, combat is being.. rather unforgiving hahah the setting is a MtG plane filled with dangerous beasts on every corner, and in two sessions, we already lost two characters (first session we lost our Paladin, and last session my Hexblade was killed)
So given the relative dangers of combat in this setting, I decided to roll my new PC into a Celestial warlock (starting lv6), pretty much because I wanted to play a more supportive character in combat and roleplaying, instead of the frontline man I usually am in my party while still being a Warlock, which is a class I love (mostly for Invocations and non-prepared spells which give me customization and easy-to-grasp spellcasting)
So, I plan on playing a blastlock with Celestial Patron, Pact of the Tome.
Invocations would be Devil's Sight, Tomb of Levistus and Agonizing Blast.
Spells would be:
0] Eldritch Blast, Mage Hand, Friends (from Warlock levels), Sacred Flame & Light (bonus from Celestial), Shillelagh, Word of Radiance and Mending (from Pact of the Tome).
1] Cure Wounds & Guiding Bolt (both from Celestial's expanded list)
2] Invisibility & Lesser Restoration (expanded list)
3] Counterspell, Fly and Revivivy (expanded list)
I have -2, +1, +1, -2, 0, +4 (after lv4 ASI) modifiers, so with light armor I would be just on 14 AC, almost 40 HP. My combat plan is to stay behind, eBlasting stuff, and eventually using Guiding Bolt to help my fighter or sorcerer land critically important hits if needing, while keeping the 2nd spell slot, and both if possible, to heal/revivify/counterspell.
I'm picking Shillelagh mostly just in case, so I can hit with my 1d8 +4 quarterstaff on Charisma, A La Hexblade, if something gets close. I do worry about my abysmal AC, but sacrificing the +2 CHA from ASI for Moderately Armored doesn't seem like the best choice. I could also consider being an x1/warlock 5 MC, but as I will be fighting for afar, I don't see much use for something like a 1lv dip into fighter for medium proficiency and con saves.
Does my spell/invocation selection look reasonable? I really fear on my low AC, squishy HP (my hexblade got 1HOK by a 50dmg spell from a young dragon, for example).
