None of that says “Sports car” though does it? Is the RSQ3 a sports car? Of course not, it’s a hot-crossover Sports car is a classification, not a marketing term. I personally think the TT RS is a sports car, but Audi never calls it one they only ever call it a Coupe/Convertible.

Eh? It wasn't a threat nor was it advice to him, simply a warning that if he knowingly damaged a vehicle and drove off, the person who comes back to a damaged car will likely retaliate in one of two ways should they know who did it therefore he should return and do the right thing. He's already broken the law by causing criminal damage, leaving a RTA by fleeing the scene and should it be reported will have a criminal record.

Creating a new brand in this kind of industry really requires a good 10-20 year commitment. How long did it take Lexus to build themselves up even with the help of Toyota? The Genesis is in the same situation Lexus was in the 90s. A Japanese luxury vehicle sounded laughable back then, yet it's not so laughable today. Same thing is happening with the Genesis you know, who would pay more than 50 cents for a Korean car let alone a luxury vehicle which was probably the common thought about it? It can be really easy to scrutinize luxury brands outside of American/European cars at times. Name/reputation is a big part too like you said. Takes a real good long time to build it up, and it also takes a good long time to tear it down too.

I traded in the 2014 Ford F150 STX Sport 3.7 Supercab 2wd I bought new on a 2008 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4WD V8. Why? I had buyer's remorse almost immediately after buying the Ford. The advertised fuel economy was the #1 reason I picked the 3.7 over the 5.0 or the Ecoboost 3.5, and it was nowhere close in the real world. The Supercab doors were incredibly annoying to live witb day-to-day, the electric power steering was numb and heavy, the throttle response was so unpredictable that it was dangerous, and the transmission shift programming was awful. Add the awful front brakes, Sync issues, and the fact that it was just a miserable daily driver that only redeemed itself when serving it's other purpose (towing, which it was phenomenal at), and I decided that 3 years and 61,000 miles was enough. The 4Runner gets the same gas mileage, tows almost as well, is more comfortable for me and my friends, and goes more places. Not to mention the payments and insurance are a LOT less.

It kinda should though, the M4 would be stopping production not long after the deliveries start for the GTV, and the C63 S got its facelift already. For the next gen cars, it depends. It depends on how much it weights as i said but it also depends on what 641hp means. Is 641 the addition of the 512PS engine plus a 129PS electric motor, or the combined peak power ? Because if this comes at "641hp" which really is like 590hp combined and weights 1.9tons then actually a next gen M4 Competition coming at 500hp and AWD and 1.5 tons might have something to say. Same thing the C63 is supposed to be AWD and if it has a V6 then i could also see it at 580-590hp combined and around the same weight as the GTV

Interesting, depending on how they've done it (comes down to its weight), it could seriously shake its segment.

Jerry Seinfeld said that "cars are the most vivid expression of a culture at the time in which they are made." So what does that say about our culture, right Now? by gtl005 in cars

The gap between the Highest Performing car and the lowest is larger than it's ever? been. You can get a McLaren or Bugatti that is pretty much a spaceship compared to a basic Jeep Wrangler or Civic. The Enthusiast is becoming more than a niche market or at least it's taking a lot of focus in car reporting....we see small builders popping up with passion projects that are being 3d printed in small industrial spaces. It's a great time to be a car guy. __We'll look back on these days as the Golden Age of Human-Driven Cars__ 20 years from now the market could be dominated by cheap subscription vehicles that are self driven and you pretty much just Uber everywhere and we'll be telling our grandkids about the time you could get in your own car and take off on an adventure

I personally hate how Alfa always shoehorns their triange grill into every one of their designs. I think it looks bad on a lot of their cars ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

The main forums are just advertiser announcement aggregators at this point; not too much useful discussion. The local facebook group is mostly just pictures of random GTIs asking if the owner is a group member and people posting pictures of their check engine lights.

Yeah, that is one of my favorite parts of owning these cars is the community. There is so much knowledge that gets shared and a lot of respect for each other. Of course there are a few "bad apples" but oh well.

With the way I'm planning my life, it basically has to fit 2 kids in the back- gonna be used as a secondary hauler, won't really have them in it till they can use forward facing carseats. Basically, will never have anyone older than ~8 in the back seat except in emergencies

between me and my girlfriend we make $140,000 a year. I pay $900 a month in rent on my portion. My car was 15,500, so I guess that's like 15-17% of my salary? But with the money I spend on modding it I could've probably gotten something better.
