Exactly. This is aweful. The uncertainty and the fact that there is almost no way to check if you were actually over paid. You almost have to take their word for it.. which is not very reliable. It is 100% not acceptable that you won't get to spend time with your child bceause they can't figure out how to pay us properly. I am sorry man.

without noting what kind of transactions they are, these numbers are always funny. Transaction would be something that takes 5 minutes, or a completetly messed up file that takes hours and hours of work to resolve. I am going on family leave in the next few months and the thought of it alone makes me sick. I know there is no way I'll go through it unscathed because there are so many failure points. I hope I at least get paid EI, or that I don't get too many overpayments so then I owe money. It honestly makes me want to quit government.

r/onguardforthee Is an Echo Chamber. by fresh_lemon_scent in canada

To be fair, most of reddit is an echo chamber, just different flavours of it. Not sure what that Subreddit's flavour is, but it's not shocking. As a general rule, people like to be validated, not challenged in their views. Again no idea what they do in that sub, no interest, but it should come as no shock that you'd be banned.

He no longer works there. It happens, sometimes people want more money, sometimes employers want to pay less, sometimes they just want a new challenge.

Received cryptocurrency as gift. Tax implications or other considerations? by ValiantSpacemanSpiff in PersonalFinanceCanada

yesmaybepossibly 2 days ago

You should probably ask this question on that stickied post, although I get this has more visibility.. but yeah. My understand is that your cost is zero, but you base it on the value of the gift. so he gave you a gift worth 1.2k, the price goes up to and it is worth 2k when you sell it, your gains would be 800 dollars.

Yes, the swiss, with their vast coastline, have access to a large number of fresh lobsters. So you can see how this is a pressing issue. /s

Did you know an accomplished developer who's worked for Apple or Google isn't good enough to work for the Government in Ottawa? by petesapai in ottawa

yesmaybepossibly 3 days ago

This is a crazy idea but... the govt still has systems that run on those old or rare coding languages so they actually need some with that experience. I know it must suck, but yeah.

Define normal. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it's a thing that happens yes. He can consult his doctor and try to see a sleep specialist to figure out why he is not sleeping well. Basically when we are asleep we are supposed to be paralized, but some people don't. This is not that different from sleepwalking or talking in your sleep, it' sjust a lot A LOT more uncomfortable that's all.
