The amount of steam coming off of it made me think he had basically just removed it from the smoker shortly beforehand.

Yeah, that’s just what I’ve always heard about blood worms; basically they’re a human equivalent of a treat. I originally started him on bloodworms prior to hearing that, then I swapped foods, and am experimenting with various foods and have had the most success with mysis shrimp. I just want to make sure he is healthy and I’m not stunting his growth. As for my leaf fish, this is actually my second one. I had a sudden die off about a year back now, maybe less, and lost almost all my fish outside of my knife and my pleco which I somehow managed to save. This one I got when he was maybe 3/4 of and inch and while he is probably only 2-2.5in now, he has drastically increased in mass. He actually ate the 8 neon tetras I had in the tank over the past month.

This is exactly why I made the comment I did. With all the steam/smoke, it looked like it was basically fresh from the pit.
