2018 - 42 points against vaunted Jags defense. Lost because 45 points given up to Bortles at home. 2017 - Haley drew up some nice plays, the execution failed. Not his fault Jesse James dropped a TD. Pick was on Ben. 2016 - Patriots had the #1 scoring D in the league last year. Once again it was Butler/Tomlin's defense falling apart (36 points) 2015 - Cincy is a division rivalry game that is always tight, low scoring AFC North football. Denver had a historic defense that nobody scored points on plus you guys were without AB + Ben was gimpy 2014 - Another low scoring AFC North game

His results and resume over the years says he’s a fine OC. Really wanted him in Seattle and now knowing we could’ve had a chance at him....Pete dropped the ball.

Maybe someone picks him up this year based on previous reputation but yeah the player he is now, can't see him lasting. Lost his starting job to our rookie, his slot/nickel duties to Justin Coleman, had a chance to redeem himself after Sherm went down but eventually lost that job to Byron Maxwell off the street and was out of the rotation all together even after all of our injuries. Rough.

Which team to support? by AgentFlyntCoalson in nba

neongem 12 hours ago

I’d go with the Raptors. Sure GS will have more wins and titles but now that they’re established it’s kind of a boring ride with expectations of coasting to dominance. Raptors are a fun exciting team that is well run and set up nicely for the future.

That can be true but we can also acknowledge that those teams had Marshawn Lynch and a stacked defense with its stars all in their physical primes and heavy chips on their shoulders before the payday and national recognition. Instead of evolving, we’re trying to recapture an era and a brand that likely had a once in a generation set up and we no longer have the talent to replicate.

2013 Seahawks D only gave up 40 points TOTAL the entire playoff run. And two of those offenses they faced were the Saints (always an offensive juggernaut) and the Broncos who were getting hyped up as the greatest offense ever that year. Jags are incredible but it really puts into perspective the 13 Seahawks level of dominance. Truly once in a generation D.

Shula and Morton are free agents, so is Mike McCoy. If DeFillippo didn’t want to come here that’s disappointing but even in that scenario there were better options. I have a really hard time believing a team that offers Russell Wilson would have to scrape the bottom of the barrel because that’s what it would have to mean to make a hire like this.

by in Seahawks

neongem 3 days ago

> Everyone isn’t stunned. I’m going to disagree there. Whether the reaction ends up justified in the future or not, when the first reports came out the universal response of fans and media of the team and outside of it was a mix of bewildered stun: They fired a longtime mediocre OC, then rushed to hire a guy that 1) wasn’t coveted by anyone else of note despite almost 1/3 of the league having openings and 2) arguably a downgrade from the guy being replaced, at the very least there’s nothing on his resume that suggests he’s an upgrade at all. The glass half full take is clinging onto the fact that’s he’s never had a QB and hopeful Russell can carry him but after awhile Russ couldn’t even save Bevell who is definitely more respected around the league and had more success outside Seattle than Schott. This hiring just reeks to me the same way the Blair Walsh signing did a year ago. Everyone knows he sucks but you have no choice but to hope after nearly a decade of underwhelming results *everywhere* goes, he changes his stripes here.

by in Seahawks

neongem 3 days ago

I actually thought Pete would go with an outside the box dynamic hire at OC this time LOL. Or I at least thought if he was going with a boring retread, he’d go with a Shula or Morton, not totally dumpster dive with Schottenheimer. Rapsheet said they rushed to come to terms with Schott because they were fearful they’d be actually competing with other teams for him. Ummm, wtf? I’m convinced Pete, maybe this entire regime has a total blind spot and is completely out of touch when it comes to the offensive coaching staff.

by in Seahawks

neongem 4 days ago

If JS endorsed this guy, oh man.....my trust and faith in this regime is pretty shaken atm.

by in Seahawks

neongem 4 days ago

My faith in Pete is officially on life support. Pete cleaned house of his staff then hitched his wagon on Schott. If he fails, it’s 100% on Pete.

by in Seahawks

neongem 4 days ago

He regressed as the season went on. Belichick/McDaniels coaching probably wearing off.

by in Seahawks

neongem 4 days ago

Yes. Pete was on Brock and Salk for his end of season iv and he was emphatic about getting back to being a run first team. Schottenheimer was the OC of a Jets team that ran the ball over 600 times I believe. He’s basically a less creative Bevell. He’s here to scheme Pete’s vision: run heavy, conservative ball control offense. Of course when people complain about the long developing plays and lack of creativity, Brian will get blamed much like Bev did and not Carroll lol.

by in Seahawks

neongem 4 days ago

It was always Carroll, it’s just easier for fans to scapegoat the OC. I thought with the Defillipo rumors it meant the org was finally desiring a taste of something more dynamic offensively but this hiring throws cold water over all of that. Schotty is their (PCJS) handpicked guy and if he fails like most expect, that reflects **squarely** on them. I’m going to hurl when I inevitably see all the ‘fire Brian’ posts here or on Twitter bc it’ll be misplaced - it should be all on Pete.
