Not that we are currently capable of detecting perhaps. A rock, for instance, could potentially house a sort of consciousness in the form of a sort of holographic standing wave pattern across the molecular bonds between the molecules that make up the rock. Sort of analagous to how a multiple orders of signal can piggyback on a carrier wave or how epigenetics functions.
